Diamonds are all the same!
You’re just not going to believe us here, so you’ll have to check it out yourself! All these diamonds are exactly the same shade. Yes, the ones on the top look much, much darker than the ones on the bottom, but they all have the exact same gradient in them.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that I’ve lost my mind and made a mistake, and somehow the diamonds at the top are darker than the ones below. Well, my friend, it just shows that any time you’re working with diamonds (whether you’re buying one for your girlfriend to turn her into your fiance) or whether you are looking at cool optical illusions like this one, you better be careful!
If you want an even bigger version to print out, I’ve provided a printable version of this illusion here. You just might not believe me unless you can print this illusion, cut it up and see that yes, they’re all the same. You can also use the printable version as a background on your desktop.
Another way to view this cool diamond illusion is to stand back about 5 or 10 feet from your monitor. Now, if you’re like me, you’ll notice that the gradient in the diamonds seems to fade away, and all you see are dark diamonds at the top, and lighter ones at the bottom.
Grab the diamond above and drag it! I’ve set up the page so that above diamond is draggable, so you can place it anywhere on the fun picture below. You’ll literally “see” the diamond change colors as you move it over the illusion.
Attention webmasters, please link to this page if you post this to your blog, because that way, in the future when I have an animation working to prove they’re the same size, your visitors will see that as well. And if that’s not reason enough, this illusion was created by us and may not be used unless you link back to this page anyway!
